Easiest pork EVER

Kalua Pig

Okay this recipe takes all day in your slow cooker, but seriously so easy!!!!

I got this recipe from a blog called Whole30 Cooking. And they call it Kalua Pig, which is just so cool and I love it. I love that you can eat pork on Whole30! Life is good. Also, click here to see what to do with your leftovers!

Anyway, onto the recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

5 lbs pork shoulder
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
2-3 tablespoons Pink Himalayan Salt

DIRECTIONS:

1. Rinse pork and pat dry. Place in a slow cooker.

2. Stab holes all over the pork with a knife.

3. On one side put 1 Tbs. of liquid smoke and 1 Tbs. of salt and the same on the other side.

4. Cook on low for 10 hours. (I know it's a long time)

  • Shred (but not too thin) in slow cooker and serve.

  • Serve with charred cabbage or really anything. You can buy a head of cabbage or shredded cabbage (because Trader Joe's only has shredded cabbage, punks). And I threw it in a skillet with some oil, salt, and pepper. It was perfect.

  • Feel free to garnish with jalapenos or more cabbage, hot sauce, anything you want.

  • This may seem like it won't be flavorful or it's a lot of time for nothing, but you will have so many leftovers and it is the best pork I have ever had, there I said it. TRY IT! Make it for a party, dinner, meal prep, ANYTHING!

How to Spatchcock a Turkey

Are you ready to find out the secret to an amazing Thanksgiving turkey? Is it brining? Basting? Butter under the skin? WHAT IS IT?!?! It's called spatchcocking and it is a Godsend. Note: you can also do this to chicken or any poultry (it will probably be different cooking times and whatnot) What is spatchcocking? Spatchcocking means you remove the backbone and lay your bird flat (don't worry I will do a step by step tutorial below). You do this so your legs and breasts cook at relatively the same time. With this method you want the breasts to end at about 150 degrees and the legs to end at about 165 degrees. Which is why we removed our legs in case they needed to cook longer. How to Prepare a spatchcocked turkey?  First, we bought a turkey. You buy one pound per guest. We had to get a frozen one because we bought it a week and a half early... But if you are cooking for Thanksgiving I highly recommend getting a fresh bird. There is no need to get one that is pre ...

I know, I know... I am super behind... But I am determined to catch up! Day 29, I have been wanting to get better with my ipad and Apple pencil.... since I have one and don't want to waste my money. Anyway, this isn't my best work, and I haven't found the best pens to use... I'll get there. Plus this replay time lapse is the coolest thing ever. Here's #DAY29 On to day 30, I have finally made this a habit! Today I used my chalk markers on slate. I chose a Zombieland quote, because it makes me happy. Here it is #DAY30 Day 31. So, I want to apologize for today... My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary (early) and I took some pretty pictures and mixed my own cocktail.. I'd call that creative. I know these snippets are really short.... Anyway, Day 32 I decided to commemorate our anniversary trip at Devil's Thumb Ranch (MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE EVER!!!) So, this is my creative project for #DAY32 Moving on to Day 33, I...
